Facilities Engineer

ROLE:
As a Facilities Engineer, you will assume responsibility for the efficient operation and maintenance of a large commercial building, overseeing its technical infrastructure and ensuring a safe and compliant environment. You will collaborate closely with the Building Manager, Executive Assistant team, and building owners to optimize systems, manage emergencies, and uphold regulatory standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement emergency protocols and procedures, ensuring the safety of building occupants and visitors.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards, adhering to regulatory standards.
- Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets to ensure cost-effective operation of the building's technical systems.
- Maintain an inventory of all technical equipment and furnishings within the building, ordering replacements as needed.
- Oversee renovations and upgrades to the building's technical infrastructure when necessary.
- Coordinate and oversee the regular maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and other building-related technical infrastructure.
- Ensure optimal performance of building automation and control systems (BACS) to enhance energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Negotiate and liaise with third-party service providers, including those responsible for landscaping, pest control, and other maintenance services.
- Ensure all building facilities and technical systems comply with relevant policies, regulations, and building codes.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies to stay informed of any changes affecting building operations.
- Collaborate with the Building Manager to align technical and operational objectives.
- Communicate effectively with tenants, vendors, and other stakeholders regarding technical matters and building-related updates.
- Communicate with leadership team project progress using metrics and project plans to ensure transparency and visibility into the HQ build-out.
RESULTS:
- Building maintenance schedule, with cost and timelines, is created and is followed within three months
- Communication cadence and procedure are documented to ensure proactive communication to occupants around outages, construction, noise, and parking disruptions
- SLAs and KPIs for building maintenance are recommended based on best practices and are adopted
- Technical infrastructure is efficiently managed, contributing to the building's overall compliance and functionality.
- Emergency preparedness measures are implemented, ensuring a safe environment for occupants and visitors.
- Regulatory standards are consistently met, and any technical issues are promptly addressed.
- Collaborative efforts with vendors contribute to the building's overall functionality and appearance.
- Procedures are implemented and followed to ensure we are following security and safety best practices (building open/close procedures; sign-in/sign-out; access and permissions to various areas of building, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience as a Facilities Engineer or in a similar role.
- Willing to be on-site M-F 9-5pm PST (may vary)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and building codes.
- Strong project management and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in addressing technical challenges.
SALARY:
- $80,000 - $105,000
