Chief Operating Officer
Remote | United States
RESPONSIBILITIES
- REVIEW AND ESTABLISH INTERNAL OPERATIONS – The success of our business to this point has been a result of Hunter’s position in the non-institutional real estate space and his expertise as a marketer. In order to double and eventually triple the size of the business, we’ll need to hone and, in some cases, create internal processes which are more indicative of a more mature business, one that removes him from the day to day in order to effectively scale
- OVERSEE EXISTING OPERATIONS - Oversee daily operations of the company across all sectors of the business (Marketing, Sales, Client Success, Finance, HR, IT).
- HIRE KEY EMPLOYEES - Run the hiring process for key new hires to build an infrastructure capable of handling our growth, while providing an excellent experience to our clients. Current priorities include department heads for Sales, Marketing, and Client Success Note: Our Head of Marketing role is currently open with an active search; if our COO role is filled first, the new COO will be able to play a role in hiring this direct report. The Sales and Client Success heads will become open roles some time in 2023.
- LEAD DEPARTMENT HEADS - Manage and lead key employees, particularly new department heads. Onboarding, and KPI’ing these individuals will be a key part of this position in creating a more effective organizational structure
- EVALUATE PERFORMANCE - Set and establish key performance indicators for employees and then conduct recurring performance reviews to ensure they are tracking towards our goals. Create objective, data-based metrics so that this performance can be tracked and measured accurately.
- FINANCIALS AND PROJECTIONS – Create and manage a detailed line itemized company budget, as well as establish 3-year projections for our growth. Create a system for tracking our performance against our budget and projections. You will also become the main point of contact for our accountant and bookkeeper.
- MAINTAIN COMPANY PULSE - Conduct weekly and quarterly meetings with team members to maintain a pulse of the company to identify potential challenges, and avoid pitfalls later down the road. Provide noteworthy updates to the CEO to ensure the company is progressing, while avoiding potentially material issues.
- CREATE HUMAN RESOURCES - Oversee all Human resources including hiring, onboarding, firing, benefits administration, and company policies Given our scrappy starting point, our HR system is quite limited. This role will require creating and then executing processes that allow us to be confident that we remain compliant and that our employees are having a top notch experience.. Note: We currently have an open search for a PEO which would be a key vendor partner for this part of the role.
- PARTICIPATE IN EXPANSION ACTIVITIES - Establish partnerships, affiliates, and potentially new products and services. While there is plenty on our plate currently, in order to accomplish our goal of tripling the size of our business, we’ll need to bring in new ideas, offers, and personnel. We want our COO to be prepared and excited about that opportunity.
